Thank goodness for your detective-sharp powers of discernment. You found that cavity and stopped it in it’s tracks. Which means you’ve saved time and money by avoiding more substantial treatments should you have let it keep growing. And more importantly, you’ve saved your tooth! Here are some ways to keep that tooth happy:
Start by staying away from hot liquids and avoid chewing altogether. Since your lips, teeth, and tongue may be numb for several hours still, you could burn your mouth or otherwise injure it and not even know until the anesthetic wears off.
Since you may feel some pressure sensitivity and soreness, here are some other tips to help you out over the next 24 hours:
- Don’t chew hard foods like:
- hard candy
- ice cubes
- Don’t chew directly on a silver filling for 24 hours
- White fillings set faster; don’t be afraid to chew on that side today
- Rinse 3 times a day for several days to alleviate pain and swelling
